Information to Help You Plan Your Hike
Interstate 35 Construction
If your travel to the Superior Hiking Trail includes driving on I-35 (through Duluth), we recommend adding extra time to your schedule, or finding an alternate route as you approach Duluth. I-35 Construction and delays are expected all summer long. The construction is happening near the I-535 interchange. See the MN DOT website for more information.
Superior Hiking Trail Association
We love our friends at the Superior Hiking Trail Association. They have a lot of great information on their website.
For your convenience, here are some links we recommend:
- Latest trail conditions
- Trail details, section by section, including mileage, descriptions, and maps
- Day hiking information
- Overnight hiking, including information on campsites
- Calendar of events
- Superior Hiking Trail Association Blog
- Their Email Signup (to receive the latest news, trail conditions and events)
We really recommend their new Superior Hiking Trail Databook.
- It’s small (5″ x 7″, and about 1/4″ thick)
- Lightweight
- It’s filled with data, such as hiking distances, elevation profiles, and distances between campsites
- It’s a wonderful tool to plan your hikes on the Superior Hiking Trail
- They also have other guidebooks and maps to make your hiking and planning easier.
