October 13, 21014: The maple peak is past, but the golds of the birch and aspen on the cliffs along Highway 61 starting north of Two Harbors are simply stunning. Still a wonderful time to be on the trail!SHTA.org
October 13, 2014 — We’ve received no hiker reports but the Cook County News Herald reported that a man with a dog on a leash encountered a wolf that charged at them on the Pincushion Mountain Ski Trails just north of Grand Marais. The SHT shares the Pincushion Ski Trails for 2.2 miles. This is extremely unusual behavior for a wolf. Conservation Office advice is to make a loud noise to scare a wolf off.SHTA.org
